Boy Gets Painter Out of Pickle!

The other day we pulled into the driveway to find the guy who is painting our house in the back of his pick-up, trying to jimmy his lock open with a wire. It wutn’t workin.’

He was really stressing out. He’d been at it a while. I eyeballed the slider window in the back of his truck, and had a thought,

“I bet Seth could fit through that window,” said I.

The painter was all, “No I couldn’t,” but I asked Seth, “You think you could?”

He shrugged and bravely took off his coat. It was freezing outside and he felt cool because I always make him wear his coat when it’s freezing, but this time he was getting away with having it off. He also removed his hat. He climbed up.

The painter held onto his legs and Seth kept his body rigid like a plank, inching forward over the back seat, over a zillion sharp objects and tools, into the front, and finally unhooking the lock.

He emerged a hero! The appreciative painter gave him a dollar! He saved the day and couldn’t wait to tell his dad when he got home from work.

Sometimes it pays to be fifty pounds soaking wet.

I’m sharing this with my girls. Neither of them weighs even 65 pounds and they are both always complaining about being “small.” Thanks, Seth!
