The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

When Courtney recommended I read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, I avoided it for a few months. I knew nothing of the book, but didn’t like the title. It sounded corny. Oh Courtney, how could I have doubted you?

It will go down as one of my favorites. So witty. So funny. So moving. So tragic. So informative. So hopeful.

I loved it,

so much.

I too avoided this book because of the title, yet was forced to read it for book club. It is such a wonderful story I was sad to read the last page as it meant the book had ended. At book club, we all discussed just how many other great reads we had missed because we “judged the book by it’s cover,” and this of course led to the discussion of judging people by their “cover” etc. Great discussion evening at book club that night.

  4. Maggie,

May I join your book club? Ha! I still have not found one here in Cleveland. : (

I totally agree! Devoured it within a day (unheard of around here), and definitely would recommend it to anyone and everyone, how many books can you say about THAT?

  7. Carrie Link says:

I meant say THAT about. You know what I meant.

Oooooh “Those Who Save Us” was one of my top two reads last year! Wonderful. And I also loooved “The History of Love”!!

Other people have told me to read “American Wife”, so now I will have to pick it up, if you liked those others, too. And this one.

    😉
