When you are a very sensitive person, sometimes life hits you hard. And even though you are not sick, you need to stay home from school to gather momentum and remember just how strong you are.
Sometimes beating the snot out of an imaginary opponent is just the thing.
Take that! And that! And that!
And if that doesn’t work, hide under the covers with your dog(yes she’s in there).
Better days ahead sweet girl.
Better days ahead.
It is the best mothers who know just when to give that r&r day to their stressed out kids.
I hope the day off helped!
Aw, hope it helps.
I have to take days off sometimes, too. I hear you, Riley. Enjoy your day and get back to the hustle and bustle again soon 🙂
Michelle, you’re such an awesome mom. I love how in-tune you are with both Riley & Seth…even when you aren’t necessarily in synch with them. You create safe spaces for them to process, to discover, to BE. I love reading about those things because it reminds me that it’s OK to slow down. In fact, sometimes, it’s necessary. But so hard to allow myself to do.
How awesome are you? Awesome. I don’t give my kids any slack with staying home from school – they are definitely of the “give ’em an inch & they’ll take a mile” variety. If I give a day off, they’ll give me hell about going back.
I learn so much from you.
My mom was and now I am a big believer in the mental health day. They are so important.
2 perfectly good strategies!
i’d love to come to your house for a mental health day.
I love how you know exactly what Riley needs and when she needs it. You are a fantastic mom!
Everyone needs to take a personal day, Riley girl.
🙂
Ah, yes. Mental health days are required. They matter.
Cool. But note that it’s only Dec 2 and the stockings are already hung by the chimney with care….
Bet your house is already strung with lights too. Who’s the over-achiever there??!!
Gomama – what’s your point? we have the tree up and everything on dec 1!! 🙂
Oh that last pic is just the best!
Mate and I play Wii boxing until whichever one of us is tense…isn’t anymore. Go with what works sistah!
What great things to do on a mental health day.
GOD.
I NEED ONE OF THESE DAYS.
Kudos to both of you. Looks delightful.
