Amusing myself on the road

IMG_0557The kids are having a ball on the way to Grammy and Grampy’s. They are watching Woody Woodpecker, a DVD from the library. They’ve never seen Mr. Woodpecker, and Seth, for one, thinks he’s hysterical.IMG_0555

 Uh-oh. I’ve been spotted.

Fine. I’ll take a pic of HT. This is his, “What is wrong with you? Why do you have to take my picture while I’m driving?” expression.   IMG_0541

Oh HT. Lighten up. I showed him this next one, and mentioned the chin situation.

You know what he said?

I’m not going to tell you but it wasn’t nice. He’s a mean, mean man.

There, that’s better.

Jingle was oblivious to all our shenanigans. Here she is, tuning us out. Hoping she’s not going to yet another home. We are the fifth in her short life.

Off to Endicott, NY.

Now, between you and me, because we’re so close, I have a confession to make. When we tell people we are going to NY for the holidays, they automatically assume NYC. Endicott is more rural than all of that. It is three hours north of the city. It is a small town. But when people assume we’re off to NYC, they get a little reverent. Like we’ve just jumped a notch in sophistication in their eyes. NYC is not my favorite city. It overwhelms me. It intimidates me. It is big, and loud. And intimidating, did I mention intimidating? Anyway, when people assume we are going to NYC for the holidays, and they get that sincere look in their eye, I just go ahead and let them think it. I’m all about appearing sophisticated.

LOL at the sophistication thing! Ha! Hope you have a wonderful time with family. And I hope you remembered to get Jingle her very own speecial Christmas present to let her know she’s one of the family and not going away! (If I know you, you did.)

    Merry Christmas!

  2. KC says:

Have a slice of pizza for me (and blot off the grease first). And a spiedie sub!

  3. Courtney says:

Come to NYC! It’s actually way easier than the country: the streets are numbered and so easy to navigate. We have parks! We have shows! We have delicious things to eat!

    xoxo

  4. Jess Wilson says:

Long as Riley’s wearing her Boston sweatshirt, you’ve got all th. Sophistication you need.

  5. Carrie Link says:

From one sophisticate to another – love.

  6. Amanda says:

Rural sounds great! I’m not a city person either – all that noise, dirt, pollution, and that’s before you even start on the people….WAY to many people all self absorbed and not engaging. How can that be sophisticated? Now, wellies, thick socks and remembering a tissue so you don’t have to sniff, THAT’S sophisticated!! LOL!!

Have a fantastic time, hope Jingle likes it.

  7. Jerri says:

Jingle’s expression says it all. Car trips…meh.

  8. Why has Jingle had so many homes?

  9. -e- says:

as a native NYC girl, let me tell you that you are so BEYOND sophisticated… you are mindful and innovative… you are what most NYC poseurs WISH they were! (and you look damn fine, chin or not)

Actually, I think you look thin. Are you losing weight? (Not that you needed to – not one lb!)

Good luck in Endicott. You know how I avoid that area. Not the happiest place on earth…

    love.
    Merry Christmas!

  11. Kim says:

So funny! That’s a pretty good expression from your husband–mine gives me a much darker look when I take his photo while driving!

I’ve got that same chin thing going on–and my husband also has some nice things to say!

NYC is overwhelming. Whenever we go I’m definitely ready to leave by the end of the day. Too, too much.

  12. drama mama says:

    You’re pretty as hell.

  13. Michelle says:

    Bonnie,

Jingle was a rescue in Kentucky, then to 4 Paws, then to a foster home for basic obedience, then to a women’s prison for advanced obedience, then to us.

One day she’ll believe she’s with us to stay!

    Pixie,

Thank you! I have dropped a few. My metabolism is back on track thanks to the doctor of Chinese medicine in Canada. Not that HT has noticed. ; )
Although, he doesn’t notice when I’m fat either, so I can’t complain.

-e- you are so nice to me!!! Courtney is going to get me to heart NYC yet.

  14. amber says:

I always thought NYC would scare me a lottle. (that is more that a little, but just under a lot.)

    🙂
